Kamikaze Girls: Friends

Published Tuesday, 20 September 2011 by Sydney Sunny

“…Momoko was there for me when I was going through a really rough time. She stayed right there beside me, but she didn’t say a word. If it was you guys, you’da tried to comfort me with all the usual shit. But you wouldn’t be sayin’ that stuff for me, you’d be saying it for yourself. It’d be all about proving what a great friend you are, and how you care so much about me, so when you need someone you could count on me… She knows, see? She knows you can’t really share someone else’s pain or suffering, no matter how hard you try. She knows they gotta deal with it on their own.” -Ichigo

“Wish I was grown up. Man, when and how am I ever gonna be a real grown-up?” [-Ichigo]
“After you’ve gone through a lot of pain, and a lot og grief, and laughed a lot, and lost a lot, and felt a lot  of anger, and a lot of sorrow, and cried a whole lot.” [-Momoko]

Kamikaze Girls: Baby’s Boutique

Published Tuesday, 13 September 2011 by Sydney Sunny

“Ichigo seemed to be slightly abashed at finding herself so out of her element. The moment we’d entered, she’d gone quiet like a cat brought to a foreign  home. After all, in this shop the “frilly-ass” clothes Ichigo always mocked were absolutely normal, and I blended in effortlessly. Until a few minutes ago we were both weirdo’s, but once inside Baby’s boutique, the only misfit was Ichigo.” -Momoko

Kamikaze Girls: The Same

“Really? But the two of you are always dressed the same way.” [said Grandmother]
Hello?! Excuse me?! Can you possibly be serious?! What in goddess’ name do you mean, Ichigo and I are dressed the same way?! I wondered if Grandmother was getting senile, and felt a bit worried for her.
“You both seem to enjoy looking very festive.”
Oh. So that’s what she meant. For an old lady like grandmother, Ichigo’s gaudy, tasteless Yanki clothing and my adorable, elegant Lolita clothing both looked simply theatrical, and were registered as being more or less the same.
